The Pixel grip is very well constructed. The rubber texture and feel is indistinguishable from the rubber cover of the 5D3. The tripod socket is reinforced by a steel base plate inside the grip, not fully integrated into the grip body as the original grip. The base plate is secured to the plastic grip body by screws.
The BG-5D III Battery Grip for Canon 5D Mark III, 5DS, & 5DS R from Phottix is a battery grip designed for use specifically with the Canon EOS 5D Mark III, 5DS, and 5DS R digital SLR cameras, and accepts one or two Canon LP-E6 batteries. With two batteries installed, your shooting time is effectively doubled. I have grips for my 5D I/II/III, but not for 5D IV, and now R5. I do think I have something to do say a bit about the battery grip. A battery grip is bigger, heavier and useless. It's a waste. Bigger: difficult to store in dry cabinet and camera bag. Heavier: one grip and one more battery. There's also a new battery grip for the Mark III, the BG-E11. This grip takes two Canon battery packs or a set of six AA batteries; it also adds vertical shooting controls and includes a ruknQq.
